Two things that are commonly confused
The gas plans. The Comprehensive Plan for the Development of the Gas Industry runs to 2029 and covers gas-industry development including CNG refuelling infrastructure and gas-powered transport. It is a different document from the 2023–2030 general gasification scheme, which concerns household gas connection and targets 65 per cent of the population by 2030. Targets from the two are often merged in summary.
The Alatau names. Alatau district is a district of Almaty city and hosts the roughly 490-hectare Almaty Industrial Zone — an industrial zone, not a special economic zone. The special economic zone named Alatau is in Alatau City, a separate jurisdiction created in 2024. A third entity, the Park of Innovative Technologies special economic zone, is in Alatau village in the Medeu district. All three are distinct.
